WiNS: The Hon. Julie Bishop MP: The Future of Power
The Hon. Julie Bishop MP delivering the keynote address to the WiNS conference on 24 October 2018. In the context of the Future of Power, Ms Bishop considered whether we have learned the lessons of history or are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. The address considers the international rules based order, populism, democracy, demographics and the use of power. Ms Bishop stated, “This is where the future of power becomes a critical issue and whether we as a global community will be duped by populist policies that will inevitably take us backwards or whether we will continue down the path of human advancement”. WiNS is a signature activity of the National Security College, a unique joint initiative between the Australian National University and the Australian Government. The footage is provided by ANU TV.
