Topic description

Indonesia is the largest archipelagic state in South East Asia and located at the cross-road between the Indian and Pacific Oceans and between the Asian and Australian continents. Maritime security is an important concept for Indonesia and becomes one of the elements of the global maritime fulcrum vision pronounced by the county’s leader. Maritime security requires close cooperation in the maritime domain between Indonesia and strategic partners, like Australia. With the objective of creating a stable and secure maritime environment for these close neighbours, Indonesia and Australia must identify and discuss issues of common concern and possible areas of cooperation.

Briliantina’s research aim to provide an understanding of what maritime security means for Indonesia as a middle power and how Indonesia develops maritime security cooperation with Australia.
