John Birmingham is an author and columnist and a former researcher for the Department of Defence. His novels have been set as recommended reading at ADFA and he has consulted for the Army’s Force Development Group.

He has written two quarterly essays on Australian defence and Foreign policy and contributed to Australian Foreign Affairs. He has an interest in engaging the general public with issues of strategic policy.
