Professor Rory Medcalf recently visited Paris as a guest of the French Government’s secrétariat général de la défense et de la sécurité nationale (SGDSN) to deliver a presentation with Universite Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, as part of a series on “great contemporary strategic issues”.

The Sorbonne speech provided the opportunity for Professor Medcalf to offer comprehensive new assessment on China’s strategy in the Indo-Pacific region and the ways in which the other powers are responding.

Based on his speech, Professor Medcalf submitted a paper to the University which you can read here: China and the Indo-Pacific: Multipolarity, Solidarity and Strategic Patience (PDF).
